Founded in 2016 by Michael Januska. Our company is proud to be part of Old Brooklyn, Cleveland Ohio’s largest neighborhood. The 1,200 sqft. cheese shop opened in December 2016 and we began producing & aging our cheeses in the lower level of the cheese shop in 2017.

In October 2018, Januska was one of the winners of Cleveland’s Chain Reaction. Small businesses pitched to investors for an opportunity to expand and improve their businesses. A new partnership with investor, Rick Blaszak formed. Soon after, Paul Passarelli, also joined. We expanded into a larger cheese and mustard production facility on Broadview Rd.

2020 was a year of pivoting and change. The Covid pandemic created new challenges. We created a complete online shopping and delivery service to accommodate safer business practices. The Covid pandemic caused us to pause our 2020 seasonal cheese production. In July, we moved our cheese shop to the front building of our production facility to have '“everything under one roof”. The downsizing of our original cheese shop led to another opportunity to open a second cheese shop location in Shaker Heights at the Van Aken Market Hall, September 2020.

2021, Cheesemaker Januska decided to pivot from cheesemaking to only affinage of cheeses. The process of aging cheese. We now age our triple milk gouda. The aging facility in the future is available to other cheesemakers and cheese distributors for their cheeses.

Old Brooklyn Mustards began as a cold packed house made condiment at the cheese shop to accompany our cheese boards. As the popularity grew, we began producing a shelf stable product and selling our mustards in the Cleveland area. We are very proud that our Pepped Up Mustard won a 2020 Good Food Awards. Original IPA won a Bronze Medal at the World-Wide Mustard Competition in 2020. Original IPA was a 2021 Good Food Awards finalist.
